The viewer is placed behind the piedestal, facing the mirror. where they see themselves with a soft gradient background. When the button is pushed, one of 26 sounds is played, such as the artist laughing, yawning, booing, a trumpet and other sounds.
This piece was a part of the solo show Still interested in this image? which featured a number of videos with people from stock footage, the artist’s friend and the artist herself, all placed in front of various gradient backgrounds.
The title of the piece and the show came from a auto generated email from the stock footage site Shutterstock where the artist had looked at an image of a smiling woman in business attire holding a gun to her head. Having looked at the image without buying it generated an email from Shutterstock with the image and the subject line Still interested in this image?
